What is your background prior to working for MinTech Agency? 

Alex has nine years of experience in Talent Acquisition, Recruiting, and Career Development in both the public and private sectors.

What are you passionate about outside of working for MinTech Agency?

Alex is passionate about helping to propel underrepresented candidates into a position to better serve their families and communities.

If you could describe yourself with one word, what would it be and why?

Open; I love learning new things as there isn’t much that I won’t try once.
Also, I am a friend whose door is always open and I try to make myself available for those in need. 

What does diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mean to you?

It means everyone has a chance to be successful and a sense of belonging wherever they go.

If you could pause your life for just one moment, what moment would that be and why?

Hugging my children. I don’t want them to grow up!

What is your favorite form of self-care? 

Eating chubby hubby ice cream and Binge Watching a great TV show.

Meet Karen Williams

Karen Williams is a speaker, entrepreneur, founder, and CEO of MinTech Agency, a diversity tech recruitment company. Karen is passionate about increasing the number of Black and Latinx tech professionals leading in the technology industry.

What is your background prior to working for MinTech Agency? 

All through high school and college, I worked in customer service. After college, I started my career in Human Resources and Staffing, and I did that for 5 years before starting MinTech Agency.

What are you passionate about outside of working for MinTech Agency?

Teaching my children about entrepreneurship, ownership, and the keys to generating wealth.

If you could describe yourself with one word, what would it be and why?

Optimistic. I know all things work in your favor if you believe it. We create our own reality from our thoughts and beliefs so I stay optimistic about my future and know it is all worked out in my favor.

What does diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mean to you?

To me, it means knowing I’m accepted, welcomed, and appreciated for who I am and what I bring to the table based on my talents, skills, and experiences. PERIOD.

DEI work is very intense work that takes real Shero/Hero’s to dedicate their time to teaching others how to understand, accept and treat others.

DEI means getting to a point where we don’t need DEI, a point in life where it’s organic and a natural part of life to be empathetic, and fair to others without being forced by the media, policy, and incentives.

If you could pause your life for just one moment, what moment would that be and why?

Everything in life happens for a reason and is setting us up for something else. But if I could pause a moment in life it would be the last time I spoke with my young brother Chris. He was my everything and he was taken away from me two days later.

What is your favorite form of self-care? 

Any carefree time alone, where I don’t have to think about anyone but myself. Hanging out with my girlfriends, it’s 7 of us and we have all been friends for 20+ years.

Why did you choose to work for MinTech Agency?

I chose to start MinTech Agency because I wanted to use my talents and experience to help my community. I know building wealth in the Black community is imperative to our future and technology is the future of everything. Millionaires and Billionaires are made every day in tech and we want more than a piece of the pie, we want our own dessert table.

So helping people that look like me land jobs paying $190,000+, making more money than they ever expected makes every day I get up and drop in someone’s Linkedin DM worth it.

What’s the one takeaway you want readers to know about you? 

The universe is conspiring to give you whatever you want or believe you deserve. You deserve to have all the great things your mind can envision.
