Meet Claire Bercaw 

She/Her/Hers, Claire Bercaw, Business Ops Intern 

Write out a 2-sentence description of yourself as if you were writing your own autobiography.

Claire is a student at North Carolina State University studying Industrial Engineering and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and trying new coffee shops around Raleigh.

What is your background prior to working for MinTech Agency? 

As a full-time student, I have worked multiple part-time jobs in customer service.

What are you passionate about outside of working for MinTech Agency?

I love keeping up with the latest fashion trends and making jewelry.

If you could describe yourself with one word, what would it be and why?

Optimistic; I always try to see the good in circumstances because a positive attitude makes for a happy life.

What does diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mean to you?

DEI in the workplace allows individuals to function in an environment that fosters empathy, understanding, support, and acceptance.

If you could pause your life for just one moment, what moment would that be and why?

Exploring Europe and learning about different cultures because I love meeting new people and seeing new places.

What is your favorite form of self-care? 

I love to watch Netflix with friends and some freshly baked cookies.

Why did you choose to work for MinTech Agency?

I appreciate the mission of MinTech Agency and want to be a part of a company that strives to give minorities equal opportunities to thrive in the workforce.

What’s the one takeaway you want readers to know about you? 

I’m excited to watch MinTech grow over the next few years!

Jacq-Riseling

Meet Jacq Riseling

She/Her/They/Them, Jacq Riseling, Marketing Coordinator

Write out a 2-sentence description of yourself as if you were writing your own autobiography.

Jacq Riseling is a Milwaukee-based career chameleon from Southern California. She is passionate about elevating small businesses and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, pets, and recording her podcast with her sibling, Jules.

What is your background prior to working for MinTech Agency? 

I am a career chameleon which basically means that I have tried a little bit of everything before settling down in my career. In my undergraduate years, I was studying music as well as nursing. I worked as both a piano instructor and a certified nursing assistant during college. I also hosted an open-mic night for local musicians in the Milwaukee area and coordinated college events. After graduating, I worked for music stores, music studios, and pursued music therapy as another career. It wasn’t until the pandemic occurred that I seriously pursued marketing, social media management, and web design. I used to passively do all of those skills in my other previous jobs and I didn’t even know it! I worked for a record label as a web designer, and now I work as the Marketing Coordinator for MinTech! I am also pursuing my Master’s in Communications.

What are you passionate about outside of working for MinTech Agency?

Music! I continue to practice my favorite piano pieces when I have time. I also enjoy hiking and scaling waterfalls with my family when we have the opportunity. Spending time with my family and pets is a big part of my life.

If you could describe yourself with one word, what would it be and why?

Empathetic. I take people’s feelings into consideration a lot and I guess that came from being both a teacher and a caregiver. I like connecting with people and it’s through empathy that I have learned that not everyone is at the same energy level as you are and that is okay.

What does diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mean to you?

As someone who identifies as non-binary and is a minority, DEI is a part of my livelihood. Working for MinTech has allowed me to continue to act on including DEI in everything that I can do.

If you could pause your life for just one moment, what moment would that be and why?

This one is tough because there are a lot of moments that I would want to pause. If anything, it would be anytime when my grandfather was alive. He raised me as a child while my mom was studying in her undergrad so I got to spend a lot of time with him including when he had to go to the local Air Force base by his house in California. Seeing all of the retired airplanes with him was one of my favorite moments in my childhood.

What is your favorite form of self-care? 

Meditating and listening to music is my go-to form of self-care. Being able to pause and relax my always-working mind is my favorite form of relaxation.

Why did you choose to work for MinTech Agency?

I chose to work for MinTech Agency because of the mission behind it. Elevating Black, Latinx, and Womxn tech professionals who would otherwise not have an opportunity given to them is important to me. I want to change the demographics of tech leaders (and other sector leaders) to be more inclusive.

What’s the one takeaway you want readers to know about you? 

I strive to elevate the voices that would otherwise be overlooked. I am excited to see MinTech Agency grow and thrive doing just that!
